HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welp, another year almost gone. All in all, not too bad a year.
Although I was down in the Holiday dumps, it's hard to stay
down there when you are blessed with the friends and family
that I have. Dang punk kids!!!

So Elaine's been keeping me busy this past week and I'm a
bit..ok, a waaaay bit behind on the November sl posting. I
did manage to get another story out on Sunday night which
puts the year's output up to 26 or 27...

4 Spoils of War
1 The Search
10 The Wyld
12 Undercurrent
2 Lucent Sl group posts

Hmm..make that 29! I'll try to post another before midnight
and round it off to an even 30! I have several ideas to choose
from. Rp sls have goosed the Muse and vice versa!

Besides the rp and writing and Elaine, I'm also grateful that
GQS is on her way back to her healthy self. That was the
best holiday present. Di, I'm waiting for you to settle into
the new hosue!

Now I just have to work on the others
on the Worry List.

And as I said before, all the friends/family at Cams and the
Keep: Di, the Chrisi, the PoD, LM/Y, the Frog Princess, E ,
Daniel, Jen/A, Mike, Marie ..you all know why. And the others
who've made rp fun this past year, Jen/Q, L, Mich, Marty,
Tom, Glo, Addy, Linds, J, Beth, Matt H., Travis, Krystal, Jeb and
Stacy. It's not always a smooth ride but it sure as heck has been
enjoyable over all.

I'm grateful for my real life family as well. Cheryl sure knows
how to keep a secret and I will have to watch what I write here
more closely now since her and Skye have become best buddies.

Which brings me to Skye. Love ya Snooks. Thank you for being
my friend, shurrukai.

I am a lucky guy.

Happy New Year !

HO, HO, PFFFFFFFT!

One more day of retail Hell before I'm
free of the Christmas Rush. Christmas Eve
falls on a Sunday this year which means I
will have it off for the first time in about ten
years. So I'll have both days off and I am
looking forward to the extra late sleep time.

I am so beat by the time I get home from
work I end up falling asleep in the parlor chair
as usual but for longer stretches than normal.
Instead of two hours zonked out it ends up at
four or five hours. This means I get into Cams
late and miss some rp, and that the four or five
stories I have come up with remain unwritten in
my brain and hammering to be let out. And I still
have to do the November sl summary with the
tourney entries. On the up side, while rp has been
slow in channel the past week as folks deal with
holiday and health issues, an idea I had about
Christmas ornaments has gotten a good response
and some good posts from folks.

Anyhow, time to sleep in the bed now.

One more day!

WELL, THAT'S DONE!

Well, with December, the project I set myself is
pretty much completed. I can just add on 2006 or
1106 that is, events as I go along.

I wish there were more entries for the earlier years.
1999 especially is a tough one to find events for some
reason or another. If I find more items to add in the
future I'l put them in italics to denote new information.

This has been fun for me even if work. I got to revisit a
lot of memories. And it struck me with this last December
entry how we've come full circle in several sls this year:
Najtha, Sia Vin, Maylon's tapestries.

Anywho, off to bed.

THIS MONTH IN CAMELOT HISTORY-DECEMBER

1097

Tyralor was forced into an unfamiliar role while visiting Wolfkeep
and helped Wendolynne deliver her daughter Elandra. More help
came in the persons of LadyXan, Morrigan, Loremistress, LadyMarty
and Shann, and both mother and daughter were in good health

Kavin Hunter kept watch over WolfKeep as the chaos of the Year
of Hell increased in Camelot and it's environs.

Kien Hal and Arathanor merged into a being known as the Spectre
in order to try to stop the Necromancer

The Horseman War came to Phoenix Keep and was confronted by
Taralon Phoenix.

The armies of Camelot met a demonic army at Castle Dramor. Lady
Fyr and Ice's sister, Lady Vesta, died in her arms.

Under the influence of a spell cast by War, Lerrad O'Donnell and
Tyralor engaged in a deadly fight at Wolfkeep as Wenndolyne tried
to get them to stop. Only the arrival of cloak, Loremistress, Elspeth,
and Kavin Hunter prevented a tragedy.

Yet even a Horseman such as War could be baffled by the antics
of the fool Destilnys.

The Necromancer broke the Fifth Seal and set the Death of Martyrs
loose upon the world.

1098

Tuckian pursued a possible future with Jaelyn the lady Bard.

Wenndolynne found herself trying to sort out her feelings for Lord Wolf
and his brother, Quietus

Corwin's wife Taiba died giving birth to their daughter Moira. The Seal
beneath Castle Amber was secured once more.

On Yule Eve, Blackthorn obtained a roan filly as a gift for Skye and in
the process helped the elderly widow of a slain Guard and her grandchild.

1099

Ashevathallion claimed the children of Ian and Skye Blackthorn as his
kin before assembled Sith on MidWinter's Night. By affirming the claim,
Evaynanthallion tacitly restored Blackthorn back into clan Silver Rose

On their way home from a trade meeting Corwin and Rohan became
lost and then were separated by magical means.

1100

Tav and his men tried to rescue the children Talor had bewitched
but both rescuers and rescued were trapped in a mountain cave..

Talor the bloodmage sent a demand to Camelot: withdraw the BlackWatch
south back over the river or Sir Tav and his men would be executed.
Realizing that the invaders didn't know Blackhawke was missing, Blackthorn
agreed to the demands while making plans that might buy Camelot time.

To create the illusion that Blackhawke was leading the armies of Camelot,
Blackthorn had Timmons dress up in Blackhawke's old armor.

Blackthorn and Xan suspected Blackhawke was inside a monastery. Ian
tried to gain entrance by singing as loudly and off key as he could but when
the monks proved to have more tolerance for bad music than he thought
possible, he and Xan went to the next step, which involved pounding on the
gates until they were allowed in to search for Blackhawke. Unfortunately it
was all for naught since Blackhawke was not there.

Jolieve's marriage to Garion seemed to have reached its end. She gave
orders to her guard that her husband was not to be allowed into her home.

Yet in the midst of this chaos, the holiday spirit prevailed. As the ladies
of Camelot decorated the Firehall, the O'Donnells went looking for a tree to
decorate Valorward.

Mallory and Keera played a prank. They baked a special bunch of
cookies that turned the lips and tongues of any who ate them bright orange
for days until the dye faded.

1101

Myst the Assassin took a contract to kill someone in Camelot town,
Bartholomew the Baker. But the terms of the contract turned out to be
harder to meet than Myst had expected.

Jolieve received a letter from Sechula telling her Sia Vin was dead.

Vert worried about the safety of an Inuit boy who'd been captured in
battle between his tribe and Lady Selia's troop. And so he brought Najitha
to Camelot for protection.

Mallory went through some mementos of her life in Camelot and was
cheered by the memories they brought her

.

Annalise found herself with conflicted emotions towards her father Baron
Lughar after a conversation in which he presented his side of the events
that had shaped her life.

Blackthorn learned that Keera and Alex Control's marriage had ended
and was not pleased with Alex.

1102

As the Acting High Justice of the Court, Blackthorn granted Ascellon
a divorce from Lady Khristina but gave her custody of their son.

A day later Ascellon announced his engagement to Lady Ehlana.

Ashe and Jera visited the Green Silences. While there, Ashe retrieved
a cloak woven by his dead sister Rowan that he gave to Jera as a gift He
also had a conversation with his father Evaynan that brougbt them closer.

Blackthorn accepted the title of Guardian of Camelot after being elected
by a meeting of the knights.

Word reached Camelot of the death of Lord William. He died in a death
match with his stepbrother Lukas, who subsequently was slain by Lord
Knightmayre.

Kimpo and Kyrie were wed on MidWinter's Eve.

Dame Jolieve announced she'd accepted a new squire, a young woman
named Roe.

Jera and Ashe went to Blackthorn Manor for a holiday celebration and
brought with them a caterpillar that somehow had survived winter so far.
They placed it among the plants in Skye's solar, and shortly after a unique
being named Wallace emerged to spend the holidays with Arista Blackthorn
and the rest of the children.

The seemingly never aging child emmy visited the Firehall in the midst
of the decorating for MidWinter.

1103

Lady Kimberley petitioned the High court to grant her legal custody
of the child Amalieya of House Silversong.

Elasol's sister Shalamar kidnapped AmberRose and for a while Elasol
stood accused of the crime. But eventually his evil twin's plot unraveled,
AmberRose was rescued and Shalamar was locked away in a cell.

The Healers of Camelot Infirmary published a list of names and asked
that anyone who'd had contact with people on the list report to the Infirmary.

Beset with doubts, Mallory resigned her position as Squire to Jolieve and
left Camelot to return home to Ireland.

Angus and his companions recovered from a bout with a strange illness
as they continued their pursuit of Kalaris and Najitha.

Lady Xan was kidnapped from her carriage as she returned home from
an evening at Camelot.

1104
After an absence of nearly two years Mallory returned to Camelot.

An outing to find a tree for the firehall went awry.

Lord Blackhawke disappeared from Camelot along with the sword
Excalibur.

Monsieur Du Brey sent Madame Maylon to Camelot to weave a tapestry
commemorating the Guardians of Camelot and Excalibur.

Lord Blackhawke battled the Enforcers within the Firehall and succumbed
to his wounds. After seeing to the futures of her children, Lady Xan retired to
the Island of Avalon.

A number of knights and citizens of Camelot were at Ascellon's Citadel
when some sort of magical accident took place. The Citadel and those there
were lost in the mists of the Wastelands, although some eventually found
their way out back to Camelot.

1105
Madame Maylon was distressed by news that her friends in France were
imperiled by the evil Cardinal of Lyon. Learning of her worry, Blackthorn
offered to use his contacts in France to help get Maylon's friends to safety.

Camelot's ally Queen Sara was kidnapped. Her Champion Sir Glofin
told Blackthorn that Bran's Cauldron was the ransom demanded for Sara's
release. Blackthorn was reluctant to imperil endanger Camelot by giving up
the Cauldron to some unknown villain, but the matter was moot since the
Cauldron had not been found yet. Glofin and Blackthorn agreed to work
together for the time being.

In his search for clues to Sara's whereabouts Glofin went into The Hook
disguised as a bard with his friend Thran. While spying on Cador and the
Shadowlord at Fat Henry's Tavern, the pair accidentlally started a fire.

Blackthorn led a search party into the tunnels below Camelot and found
a maze dating from Roman times. The group had a brief encounter with the
Shadowlord and some smugglers, but had no success in finding the elusive
Caudron.

Happily, Glofin and Thran were able to rescue Sara shortly afterwards.

Najitha went hunting in The Wyld and became possessed by the being
known to his people as the Beast. Kalaris and Bayla were able to contain
it in Najitha for a time although Bayla placed himself in danger to do it.

OBLIGATORY SIGNS OF LIFE POST

Checking in...
Been an interesting few weeks..probably the tightest financially
I've ever spent. I think I've eluded the wolves at the door for
a bit longer. At the moment, chances are good that my car will
be off the road after the first of the year,.though.

Lately, George and I spend a lot of time blinking at each other.

Rp wise, it's a bit slow so far this month but otherwise it's been
a good year. The November tournament went well. And this
has been the third most active year on record for the email list.
We're closing in on 2100 posts for the year, an upswing after
three straight years of declining posts and we passed 14,000
total posts on the Yahoo list last week. There's been stories
from 16 different writers as well with the PoD and R turning
out some really good stuff.

If there's any place that needs improving it's in getting everyone
healthy and financially secure.I'll settle for getting that good health
thing settled for ladybug and ML first.

Anywho, I'm still breathing.

THE ANGST OF AUTUMN- October SL Summary

Strange occurrences continued as Camelot entered the month of
October.

Reports of people falling into a deep, unwakeable sleep continued,
although most of the incidents seemed to involve the nobility.

Lord Cauthstrum was found dead, killed in his own bed by Tyralor,
although his part in the noble's death remained unknown, as did the
reason for the assassination.

Ahmi discovered her uncle, Elhand, ransacking her room. She
taunted the Green Knight about it being too late to play concerned
parent when Elhand accused her of deceiving him. Angered by how
he'd been used, Elhand attacked Ahmi.

Nobly became upset upon learning that the man who'd fathered her
was dead.

Puhk told Bayla that the druids of the Northern Forest had fallen into
what he called the "great sleep".

Master Robinton and Torri 's condition had been caused by Apatheryn,
Demon of Sloth. Hand was sent to see what effect her touch had on the
two mortals.

While Torri managed to regain consciousness, Robinton remained
locked in his nightmares despite the efforts of Yandora and TomTom to
revive the master bard.

Elki was nearly drowned in her flowerpot home when one of the kitchen
boys watered the plant. When the enraged fae questioned the lad, he told
her he'd been paid by the 'half-elf' to do the task. Elki drew the conclusion
it was Blackthorn but actually it had been McDougal. Bayla helped the
tiny fae ready another flowerpot for her winter sleep.

Lucent found a broken winged green hawk in the courtyard and took it
in intending to nurse it back to health.Ian and Corwin both noticed there
was some magical binding on the animal and eventually it was revealed to
be Elhand. Ahmi had defeated her uncle and transformed him into the bird.

A rather confused young lady named Sorcha appeared in the hall at night
and sold some "FISHSTICKS" of dubious condition. Palmer examined her
after she commented about how her head hurt all the time. Watching after her
proved to be more of a task than he expected, such as the night Sorcha was
lost in the garden maze until Bayla and Tyralor rescued her.

Anodyne's attempt to waken Robinton using crystal magic failed, but she
did pick up the word "Apath-ryn" from her contact with the bard's
semiconscious mind.

The mystery of Sorcha's aching head and sudden appearance in the firehall
was solved after Corwin and Blackthorn stopped Takke (aka Master Pinkus)
from beating her. It turned out Sorcha was his servant. Takke's cruelty was the
last straw for Blackthorn who showed the varlet the scenic exit from the firehall
by throwing him out the window into the moat. After being fished out he was
escorted out of the castle.

That very same night Corwin and Blackthorn were astonished by the return
of the long absent Sir Poet who'd come home from France.

Sorcha went fishing in the garden water fountain. A few days later she had
a fit of paranoia about the black thing always following her and climbed a
tree in an attempt to escape her own shadow.

Poet's return drew Simon from his studies for a visit to Camelot.

The people of Camelot began preparations for the Harvest Fair and entering
for the various events in the Fall Tournament.

Tomtom encountered Ephanie the mermaid at harborside and realized it
was she who had saved his life during the battle with the sea serpent.
Tom eagerly asked questions about what life was like under the sea and
expressed a desire to see for himself.

Veryl gave his daughter Lyssa a silver bracelet that had symbols etched
upon it.

One of the entries in the upcoming November tournament was listed as
simply "Tyralor's champion". Speculation ran rampant as to who this
mystery person might be.

A man named Ravyn came to Camelot and questioned Amaris as to the
where abouts of his wife CrowWing.

Another new arrival, Lord Delroy, traveled to Camelot with a message from
his father to be delivered to Blackthorn. Lord Daegmund asked that Delroy
be granted a place in Camelot.

BellaDonna-Night the gypsy seemed determined to break through Bayla's
reserved demeanor.

Tyralor burned a ship in Camelot Harbor which he told Blackthorn was a
haven for vampires. He suggested that Blackthorn inquire with the merfolk
about sightings of vampire fish.

A young orphan boy named Dewi was brought to the castle to be entered
as a student at the Mage Academy. Corwin agreed to take him on as a
student.

Nobly and Ambli practiced dancing and exchanging social pleasantries
in anticipation of the Harvest Ball.

The arrival of Calandra had repercussions for Tyralor's dealings with
Cecily, Quincy, and Amaris. Quincy was so distracted by the news
she was wounded by her own boobytrap up in her room

At Corwin's suggestion Elki tried to "green up" Blackthorn's office but the
combination of Ian's wards and pillywiggen magic had unexpected results.
The plants grew so fast that Ian had to fight his way into his office.

Nate told Ian about a sticky situation he'd recently found himself in
during his travels.

A building near Fat Henry's was the site of a mysterious fire.

Quincy hallucinated, thinking she saw Phlynn, a friend from Myrken,
in peril.

Kildrummy had a conversation with Shayla after he signed up for the
tourney.

Hearing of Sir Poet's return, Quietus came to speak with his brother at the
firehall. Anki noticed how angry Blackthorn was by seeing Quietus in
Camelot.

Yet another new student enrolled in the Mage academy: Ritu a black elf.

Several travelers arrived in Camelot. Most of thenm moved on but one, a
young man named Dante, decided to stay on.

A new Red Dragon Guard, Sgt. Otis confounded listeners trying to decipher
his speaking.

Bayla and Palmer succeeded in restoring Elhannd to his normal form, but
then all three were attacked in the garden by Ahmi's agent, Ydell, a Satyr.
The attempt on their lives failed and Tdell was imprisoned. Later, the satyr
endured rigorous questioning from Tyralor and Bayla.

Apatheryn made an appearance in the firehall and threatened Camelot.

The Saxon axeman Aelfwine got into an argument with Tyralor over a slight
to a lady and was jailed until he cooled off.

Palmer told Yandora that he'd done all he could do for Robinton and given
the bard's present coma he might recover sooner in familiar surroundings.

Tyralor stole the wall tapestries he's long coveted although he needed the
assistance of Kalaris to get them down off the wall ,

And while all these events took place, Samhain and the possibility of Ahmi
and Ahlbel 's move loomed larger and larger.

CRUD

I'm in one of those funks right now where that's what everything
feels like. Crud. Work is just a place to go earn money that just
barely covers the basic bills. The car is still in need of repair.
The holidays are coming and that means Christmas gifts. And rp
right now is flat, at least as far as I am concerned. A change in
sl has left me at loose ends and I still haven't got a handle on
how to fix it. Usually when I fall asleep early I will sign on for
an hour or so when I wake up but the last few nights I've just
gone on to bed.

At least it's easier to read now that I gave in to the inevitable
and got a pair of reading glasses.

Ah well. Eventually the mood will change. I hope.

Anki were pelted with tomatoes from the rooftops.

Bayla continued his undercover work as Serti at Fat Henry's Tavern.

Jera dealt with the King Rat with the help of a rather unusual cat.

SEPTEMBER SONG- SEPT. SL SUMMARY

While September's start found things relatively calm in Camelot itself,
matters beyond its borders were not so tranquil.

In Queen Sarah's realm, Kazara led an attack upon the castle but her
son Tobias was finally able to overcome his inner demons and destroyed
her.

To the southeast of Camelot in the sleepy Welsh town of Pennally, a
wandering miner named Zethar found and attempted to hatch what he
thought was a dragon's egg. But when he succeeded he discovered it
was in reality a fire salamander's egg and Zethar's mistake proved fatal.
As for the creature, it appeared to be moving towards Camelot, following
the dangerously overloaded ley lines towards the key node.

Meanwhile, back at the castle, newlyweds Yandora and Master Robinton
hit a rough patch in their new marriage. Yandora had observed Robinton
holding Torri's hand as the two talked privately in the garden and Yandora
misinterpreted what her husband's action had meant. Later she argued with
the bard over how she'd cooked his steak during a meal she'd prepared for
him at the Camelot firehall. Eventually Robinton learned what had upset her
and explained to Yandora that he and Mistress Torri were commiserating
with each other over the disturbing nightmares that had haunted their sleep
of late.

LoreMistress worked at decoding a map that could help find the key
energy niche of the ley lines that ran through Camelot. She and Corwin
discussed plans to somehow repair the overflow of magical energy.

A fire elemental mage named Fendras arrived in Camelot and decided
to join both the Guild and the Academy.

Ian led a small party of hunters in search of the giant bat that had been
terrorizing small villages Among those in the party were TomTom, Veryl,
LoreMistress and BaylaVin, who' d been given a Stone of Silence by
Tyralor as protection against the screams of the dire creature. They found
and destroyed the bat's nest and its young but the creature itself escaped
when Hand appeared to ride the monster away.

Lady Ahmi arrived in Camelot to take part in negotiations as Tyralor had
proposed. What no one from Camelot realized at first was that this was not
Ahmi herself but a fetch, a double created magically from leaves and twigs,
sent to Camelot as a diversion while Ahmi pursued her own agenda.

Quincy admitted to Ian that she sometimes saw "sparkly people", causing
Ian to wonder when Quincy would finally learn about her own half-fae heritage.

Amaris asked Ian to keep an eye on her two children while she was hunting
the person who was responsible for her present illness. Corwin had provided
her with a magical item with instructions for it's "one time only" use.

Starlet and Elki inadvertently sounded a false fire alarm and mayhem
ensued.

Tyralor had joked that BaylaVin and Amaris would make a fine couple, but
his manner changed when Amaris returned to the area. She appeared to
have failed in her quest and to be suffering after effects from the device
Corwin had given her. Now McDougal made scathing remarks about Corwin
which led to an argument between Amaris, Tyralor, Corwin and Blackthorn.
It was the first of a series of confrontations between the four that happened
several times over the course of the month.

In the midst of this tense period, King Erphayne of the merfolk came to the
firehall to consult with Blackthorn over joint efforts to deal with the sea serpents
in Camelot Harbor. The meeting was postponed by another clash withTyralor
which resulted in Corwin having McDougal escorted to the dungeon for the
night. Even then, the half-elf somehow managed to have the firehall's furniture
yell insults to Corwin and Blackthorn as well as commentary over Bayla and
Amaris.

Sa`Gruund's visit with Hugin's dwarves ended and her hammer was returned
to the surface.

The sudden death of a Duke Krulik in the firehall, apparently by poison,
mystified Camelot's inhabitants.

On the same night as Krulik's death Tyralor was surprised by the arrival of
Cecily, a young girl who claims she is to be McDougal's future wife. Normally
a rather abrasive personality, Cecily showed a kinder side when she befriended
Mistress Nobly.

Ian confronted a cloaked observer one night in the firehall who he and Corwin
believed to be Dalt. Corwin told Ian that upon a recent visit to inspect the great
seal beneath Dragonkeep he'd found the castle there deserted of all the staff,
guards and inhabitants.

Squire Lucent received a letter from home.

Mace Daniels and Nobly had an umm…uplifting conversation.

Puhk and Elki settled their territorial dispute over Bayla's hair and then
were joined by another fae, Anodyne.

Aralina visited the firehall on several occasions and seemed particularly
interested in Amaris' present condition.

Robinton collapsed and when she couldn't wake him from his catatonic
state Yandora brought her husband to Camelot seeking help. The bard
seemed to be trapped in some sort of waking nightmare and nothing that
was initially tried seemed to be able to break the spell. Meanwhile Torri
was brought in to the infirmary as well by TomTom.

Palmer failed in a dream-walking attempt to wake Robinton but did
manage to hit Tyralor in the head with a tray.

At last, plans were completed for the sea serpent hunt and Camelot
coordinated its forces with the merfolk. King Erphayne and his daughter
Ephanie led their people, while Blackthorn, Lord Corwin, Squire Lucent,
LoreMistress and TomTom led the Camelotian forces. It was a very near
thing but in the end the combined forces triumphed and Camelot Harbor
and the nearby ocean was once more secure.

But there was no time to savor the victory. Samhain was drawing
nearer and no one could foresee as yet what peril lay within the Wyld
for the people of Camelot.

STILL KICKIN'

I haven't posted in a few weeks so thought I'd do a quick
one. I'm alive. Still dodging the wolves.. Presently I'm
trying to get the monthly Camelot History post done to be
followed by the Sept `06 sl summary.

Well, not presently.

Presently, I'm going to bed.

Nodsnodsnods.

More tomorrow- Fri-. Night.

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE.....

I meant to comment on this last week but forgot.

The merry go round over on Starchat continues. An op/rp
at the Broken Dagger noticed someone kept using one of her
nicks and had to use the "ghost" function several times on it.
And then was k-llined by jinxi for doing something anyone with
a registered nick would do: protecting it.

The reason given? It was "hateful" to ghost someone in a
support meeting over a "camped out nick" instead of using
'guard". It did the nick owner no good to tell jinxi she'd never
used "guard" before because "ghost" apparently had always
been enough in the past. jinxi was in her usual high dudgeon
and didn't want to hear any reasonable defense, and then
klined two other Dagger rps who'd been pleading the case
of the first one in #Starchat.

As a result, all sorts of bovine excrement once more hit
the fan. The original nick owner has opened a Broken Dagger
over on Darkmyst and several others players have joined her
over there in protest against jinxi and Starchat. While the other
two rps' klines have been lifted, some sort of attempt to get the
first one's lifted has failed and the whole situation has caused
even more trouble between players and ops in the Starchat
Dagger. One of the Founders stepped down and was replaced
by the Founder who took the channel the last time jinxi's wrath
fell upon the channel. It seems to have calmed down a bit
now.

I think jinxi won't be happy until she has an rp-free network.

BEDTIME FOR BONZO AGAIN

Another night where I zonked out early and got online
later than usual.

Rp is in one of those lulls again where rl pulls folks off and
sls seem to sputter. I'll see what I can do to kickstart it again.
And I still have to finish the next part of The Wyld story dealing
with the fire salamander.

There' s also the genealogy blog to work at too.

Anywho… off to bed. Day off tomorrow, aka laundry day.

Rah!

I DON'T KNOW

Sometimes I sit here in front of this machine thinking even after
I've signed off rp for the night and should really be in bed asleep
and I sort of absorb things and try to see some plan.

I gotta tell ya. If there is one, I don't see it. Or it's just such a
screwed up farce that it escapes easy notice. I'm not talking
about the stuff going on in my own life. I come from a loing
line of schmucks that consider keepig a roof over our heads
and our stomachs full major lifetime achievements.I learned
at a very young age not to expect too much out of life for
myself and it's kept me sane all these years.

It's what my friends have to deal with that makes me
wonder sometimes just who the heck is in charge of Life
as we know it and why Whoever it is can't get it right in
the first place.

Now another friend has to deal with a bad hand. I know
she will beat this and I intend to insist she does.

But dang..what I would give for five minutes with the
Powers That Be to give them or He or She a piece of
my mind!.

THIS N' THAT

Ok, just a quick post for tonight,

George Jr is sleeping. Kramer is about as shaky as
the character he was named after, and George Sr
is back at bat.

I knocked out a new "The Wyld" installment tonight
which was Part 7 of the series but also the first of at least two
about a fire salamander. I also took the chance to revisit the
village of Penally in the story and Brother Llwyld will make a
brief appearance in the next part.

I'm redoing my genealogy blog on the new beta blog format
and transferring the content of the old blog over to the new.

The car is hurting and I have been taking the commuter train
to work for now.

The wolves still bay at the door.

And like a dumbass Eveready Bunny, I keep chugging
along.

THE WANING LIGHT OF SUMMER-AUGUST SL SUMMARY

August began with the firs hint of another problem that
faced Camelot, as TomTom told LoreMistress about the giant
bat creature terrorizing the outlying villages.

Skye and Ian teased Squire Kylan a bit over the letters he and
Arista exchanged that resulted in the decision to end the marriage
arrangements made by their parents.

On the other hand, Master Robinton was wed to Lady Yandora
in a ceremony conducted by Lord Corwin and Gabriel Morninglord..
A great feast was held afterward in the firehall.

Blackthorn learned of another area now cleared from the Wasteland
as Sir Maick Symons visited Camelot.

Ian tried in vain to persuade the two changelings taken prisoner to
leave their Fae master and return to normal human life. After Lady Ahmi
caused one of the prisoners to crumble to dust, Ian let the other one go
free in the hopes the changeling might eventually change his mind/

A young widowed mother named Shayla arrived in Camelot with her
infant son Tristram seeking shelter from her brother in law. Lord Lucan
Trevayne. Blackthorn intervened on her behalf, writing Trevayne a
letter requesting the restoration of Shayla’s inheritance. Although he
complied with Blackthorn’s request, Trevayne continued his plotting to
rob Tristram of his father’s title and estates.

A guard brought word of one of his fellows disappearing aboard the
deserted ship “Gaudy Grizelda”. Blackthorn led a boarding party that
included Lord Corwin, Kyrie, Glofin, Tyralor, Daedalus, LoreMistress,
Lyrick,Tobias and Talen Sandreks on to the ship where they discovered
a spiderlike being. After pinning the creature to the wall the adventurers
sunk the ship and drowned the spiderthing.

Afterwards, Ian had nightmares about the incident, but perhaps he
was not the only person in Camelot with troubled dreams of late.

Incidents of Wild Magic continued. Two rush harvesters, Ellis and
Collen, survived an encounter with Will o’ the Wisps in the marshes.

Palmer left Camelot and ended up as Beron’s “guest” in an ancient
Roman villa deep in the heart of The Wyld.

Tobias was unable to obtain any help from Loremistress in preparing
for the final encounter with his demon mother.

Even as plans were being discussed with the merfolk about hunting
the serpent, Ahmi had her sister Adena lure the serpent closer to Camelot
with her song.

Squire Kylan spent an eventful night in an inn as a mysterious observer
watched his behavior.

Beron visited Camelot and warned that Ahbel and Ahmi had something
planned for Samhain (Halloween)

Curious as to why the Fae would have stolen Bran’s Cauldron, Ian and
several others went down to Camelot Below to ask Hugin the dwarf some
questions about the Cauldron’s repair. Making the trip were Sa`gruund the
Dwarf Ghost, LoreMistress, Squire Lyssa, Squire Lyrick, Kyrie, Sir Glofin,
Lord Corwin, Anki and Bayla Vin. While the group was talking with Hugin a
redcap raiding party attacked and took several dwarves prisoner to take
to Ahmi who needs information about the Cauldron as well.

Several more newcomers arrived in Camelot. A warrior named Anselm
came, attracted by the reputations of Camelot’s fighters.

Catalina, the daughter of an old friend of Blackthorn’s from Castile came
and departed shortly after an argument with Anki and Ian.

Elki, a small Fae creature called a pillywiggen became attached to Bayla
and had a territorial dispute with Puhk over Bayla’s hair.

Mace teased Nobly over her supposed “crush” on Bayla.

Master Pinkus’ new body turned out to be that of quite innocent looking
young man and Blackthorn was not pleased with Bayla and Kalaris over
this new development.

TomTom brought the survivors of an attack by the Giant Bat to
Camelot and plans were made to hunt the creature.

And as the month drew to a close, Tyralor suggested that a messenger
be sent to the House of Dreams with an invitation to discuss the tensions
between Camelot and the Fae.

So once again Camelot faced challenges to its people.

Only time would tell if it would triumph over them.

MORE AUGUST ANGST

Ok, so I went out to my car earlier tonight, intending
to make a short trip to the grocery store. As I reached
into my pocket for my car keys, I realized they weren't
in there. Yep, I locked them in the car when I came back
from the laundry Monday night.

And I can't find the spares. So I'll call AAA in the morning
to come open it for me.

The really bad part is that noone had the common decency to
STEAL the damn clunker for me!

Bastages!

OOGA BOOGAH!

Ok, not the most original post heading I've ever come up with
but I'm boooored.

Yeah, I know. Go read a book or something.Tried that.

One of these days I'll have enough money to actually go
somewhere and do something and my car will be in good
enough shape to take me there.

Of course, I'll be so old by then I probably shouldn't be
driving.

Ah well. I did turn out Wyld 6 today and that killed a few
hours.

But now, I think I shall go clean something.I don't
know what just yet, but I'm sure I'll find something.

Tuesday, August 22, 2006

JEEEZ!

OK, another case in point of how much August sucks.
I put away the laundry I did earlier and only now realized
I forgot to take the bag with the dirty undershorts and undershirts
with me to wash.

No doubt a senior moment.

And the mystery laundry item in the wash tonight was a bright
yellow washcloth I found in the washer mixed in with my clothes.

I'm going to bed now and might just stay there for the rest of
vacation. Or until I need to get the rest of the wash done.

Pfft.

IS AUGUST OVER YET?

No?

Damn!

ON THE WHOLE, I'D RATHER BE IN CAMELOT, BUT PAGO PAGO WILL DO AS A SUBSTITUTE

On the whole, this is shaping up to be one of those periods
on the rl side of life where it sucks to be me.

However, I'm stuck with it.

THE STORY STORY

Ok, I said I would talk about how some stories write quicker than
others, in particular the Wyld PT5 that I wrote the other day.

First, the story line is fun for me. We had come to the end of the
Hook plotline and I was brainstorming with one of the other rps
over an idea she had for the next one. Now, I wish I could say
the Wyld storyline just sprang full blown from my own widdle brain,
but the spark was actually from the latest Charles De Lint novel
"Widdershins". In that, its a conflict between Amerindian magic and
Celtic Magic. Boggarts figure into the plot and it struck me that there
was a whole world of old British myth and folklore beyond even what
I'd already used in the Bran's Cauldron sl. We're talking old magic,
ancient magic, from times even before humans lived in Britain and after.
And in our Camelot, the oldest magic dwels in The Wyld. So M and I
came up with the Faery Courts and then worked out what the conflict
would be and we were off.

As to the latest story: awhile back I found a link to a site that described
how medieval buildings were frequently lit by rushlight candles. That was
stored away in one of the holse in my swiss cheese brain. Then when I
started wrtitng the Wyld stories, I wanted to show how the release of the
Wild Magic and the increase of appearances by mythical creatures would
affect the common folk. A father and son endangered by the Boar became
the Wyld 4.

About this time "Pirates of the Carribean 2 " came out and I think that might
have figured into the idea to bring a sea serpent into the list of creatures that
Camelot now faced. Originally, I had thought I'd have a ship drift along the
coast. no sign of a crew, and that it would eventually be revealed that they'd
all been eaten by the serpent. I planned to write a set up story where two
men gathering rushes in a marsh near the shore ((see? finally the rushlights !))
see the "ghost ship" sail by in the mist and run panicked to report the
inceident in Camelot. But another ship sort of turned up in the port and
got used for a shipboard miniquest, so the idea got shelved for a bit.

So the other day I'm home sick and sitting here and decide writing could
take my mind off how I was feeling. I'd finished off UC24 Sunday night
but feeling yechh and dealing with a balky computer had slowed the brain
down to a crawl. This time, everything clicked. George Jr behaved. Now
my rushgatherers would have to deal with a Will o' The Wisp, a British
legendary spirit that leads people astray to drown in bogs and marshes. The
first character that came knocking on my brain was Collen, who was whiny
and hungry and.wasn't happy at all working. Ellis came right along after as
the older man who was saddled with a lazy nephew as his helper.Once that
was settled, writing the rest came along at a steady pace. The hardest part
was not so much getting Collen into the mess but figuring out what would
happen to him and if Ellis was going to save him, how would it be done?
And that's where Caderyn the horse came from.

It took maybe 2 and a half hours to write the story. I admit that not to
boast but to show what I mean about how it was easy for me to let it flow.
I only wish they were all that easy! Why some are like that and most others
aren't, I don't now.

Anywho, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

THE GRUMPY OLD FART"S THEORY ON RP AND WRITING

Ok, still sort of late but I'm a bit wider awake at present.

I have this theory in regards to roleplay and writing. It's
my observation that if a person is a competent roleplayer
then odds are good that they will also be able to write a
good story. After all, how many times have we in Camelot
called roleplay interactive fiction? If a player has a good
imagination then he or she is already capable of coming up
with an interesting plot. If their posts show good descriptive
ability as well as dialogue, well, there's the basics of writing
a story!.The folks who regularly read this blog are prime
examples of my theory. They've all written at least one
story and there's not been one clunker in the whole batch!.

It doesn't have to be spelled one hundred percent perfectly
nor does it have to be grammatcially perfect from start to
finish, so long as it is interesting!

What amazes me are the folks who are good roleplayers
but who are hesitant to write a story and send it to the
mail list. I told someone tonight who asked me to check over
something she wrote that she should just think of writing
stories as another form of roleplay..a solo version.I thought
the piece she wrote, even as short as it was, was a good one.

Anywho, that's some of my theory. More to come later.

As E would say, off to the beddery!

QUICKIE

Still felt lousy this morning and my voice was hoarse.
So I took another day off from work. The computer
drove me crazy for a good part of the day but has
been working fine since around 4:30 this afternoon.

I managed to write all of The Wyld5 in about two
hours (including computer freezes) and I meant to
comment on how some story ideas just write easier
than others.

But I'm really really tired and I want to sleep. So that
comment will wait a day or two.

Good night!

GREAT GREAT GRANDPA REMEMBERS

This is something I found online yesterday on a website for
Upton, Maine. The Jonathan West is my great great
grandfather, Jonathan Phelps West, and the interview was
done about 100 years ago. It was edited out of the finished
book but the website creator found the full journal and
texts at the Harvard Zoological Society.

"Jonathan West spent his entire life in Upton, having been born on

East B Hill in 1831. In his youth Lake Umbagog was much less extensive
in summer than it is at present. It was then bordered in many places by
natural meadows where the farmers cut large of coarse hay which they
took off with horses and wagons, for the ground was quite dry and firm
except in early spring, when it was flooded for a few weeks. The forest
trees growing at high water mark and for some distance back of this, were
chiefly white pines. They fringed the banks of the Cambridge, the
Androscoggin
and the Magalloway Rivers and sometimes occurred on high
ground, but not
very generally or numerously. Most of those near the water
were cut and
rafted off by the lumbermen between 1840 and 1850. Very
little clear white
pine was wasted but spruce trees were accounted no value
and whenever
the encumbered land was desired for farming purposes they
were almost
invariably piled up and burned, after being cut down.

"When Mr. West was a boy, moose were numerous, although less so than in
earlier times. There were only a few deer and the first settlers had found but
few. Caribou occurred plentifully in certain locations. The Canada Lynx, the
fisher and the sable were common. The otter was perhaps the most abundant
of all the fur-bearing animals (except the muskrat) which frequented the shores
of the lake and that of its connecting rivers. Partridge abounded in the forest.
Wild pigeons visited the clearings in enormous numbers sometimes "darkening
the sun" as their winged phalanges came between it and the eye of the observer
and doing much damage to the farmer's grain. They appeared chiefly in spring
and autumn but Mr. West has never known more than a few scattered pairs
to breed anywhere about the Lake. He remembers when the lake attracted
innumerable water fowl, among which were many Canada geese.

"According to Mr. West, Metalluk was a St. Francis Indian, banished from his
tribe because of some offense of a political nature committed when a young
man.
After leaving Canada he lived for many years about the lower lakes of the
Rangeley
chain having a permanent camp at the Narrows on Richardson Lake
and one used
less regularly, yet not infrequently on the island in Lake
Umbagog that bears his name.
He was a thoroughly "good" Indian, honest,
upright, truthful and very kind and
friendly, in his dealings with the early
settlers, all of whom liked and trusted him.
When they were hard pressed for
food he often brought them trout and moose
meat, for, like most of his race,
he was an expert fisherman and hunter. He
frequently accompanied them as
a guide and assistant during their excursions
into the forest and whenever he
visited the settlement of Upton he was cordially
welcomed at their houses. He
stood in much fear of their dogs, however, and Mr.
West remembers that
when he came to his father's house on east B Hill he was
accustomed to call
from the road requesting that their dog be tied before he
would enter their
door. His only vice was drunkenness, to which he was hopelessly
addicted.
But he was invariably mild-tempered and inoffensive when under the

influence of liquor."

SICK DAY

I took one today. Last night my gut ached and I suspect
it might have been a bit of the bug that one of my coworkers
had last week. I felt a bit hot Friday night even though the
temps outside were cool and the last few days I've zonked
out prettily heavily when I got home from work I might be
wrong though.Add to that the sneezing and runny nose
that started up right in the middle of already feeling blech and
it was not a fun Sunday night.Golden rod season must have
started.

I did manage to get some sleep but woke up with a sore throat
and feeling tired so I called out sick at work, I'd have preferered
no to do that. I worked nearly every day two years ago when I fell
at work and hurt my ribs and usually I'll go in even when I really
don't feel all that hot. But I decided I'd rather not be constantly
wiping my nose to keep it from dripping while I looked like
spit from the other aches. The aspirin and nose spray seem to be
working well now and I most like will be back at the store tomorrow.

George Jr has been acting up and between the blechs and computer
trouble I didn't do much rp last night which the usual mini-quest night.
Luckily we had a big event Saturday night so I had no quest plannned
for Sunday. Considering how I felt that was a very good thing.I did
finally manage to finish off UC24 even though it was hard for me to
keep my concentration at times and it took most of the night
for me to write just a few paragraphs. I'm hoping to work on Wyld5
today but it depends on how George Jr behaves. It took nearly 10
minutes just to type these last three sentences.

Hmm...might be time to get Kramer

THAT HOMER FITZGERALD

With apologies to Gordon Lightfoot.
Set to the tune of the song "The Wreck of
the Edmund Fitzgerald" :

At this time of year, as school days draw near
And summer turns into September
It seems every kid now recalls where they hid
The book list they did not “remember.”

Then the parents freak: school’s starting next week
They rush down to their nearest Borders
But there they find out all their books are sold out
So they end up placing special orders.

And there’s one or two panicked parents who
Think their child’s whole future imperiled
They’ll be left behind! “Say, can you help us find
“Odyssey” by that Homer Fitzgerald?”

“And my daughter Ruth needs a book called “Boe Wulf”
I’m not sure just who is the author.
Oh no, do you know, if it’s in audio?
It’s too long, it will only turn off her!”

As the leaves start to fall the school bells do call
The start of the school year they herald.
But although summer’s done, there ‘ll always be one
Who still wants that damn Homer Fitzgerald!

BED CHECK

Yeah..it's still there...

Been typical New England weather. Up near the 100 degrees
mark last week and tonight it's low 60's. I think I have a cold
coming on.

The weather seems to play with me a bit. Last few days I have
felt wrung out. Some of my co-workers say they feel the same
way. So tomorrow I will try to write UC 24 since I left poor
Huw dealing wuth his father's revelation for over a week now.

Some jaw droppers from the high schoolers looking for their
summer reading books:

"Do you have any Boe Wolf?" They wanted Beowulf.

"I need the O-E-Diapers Cycle"
which was The Oedipus Cyle

And my personal favorite:
"Do you have the Odyssey by Homer Fitzgerald?"

Ah, who knew Homer was Irish! No wonder he went by just
his first name in Greece!

Actually, the kid wanted the Robert Fitzgerald translation.

Anywho, think I'll go check out my pillows now.

IN SUNSHINE AND IN SHADOW-JULY SK SUMMARY

After the excitement of Epoi’s defeat and the successful
Summer tournament, July seemed tranquil in comparison.

Ian broke the news to Kalaris about the execution of her
son, Shale. She seemed to take the news calmly and then
asked Bayla to accompany her in a search to find a way to
provide Pinkus with a body. Of course, since Bayla was one
of the trio that had been involved in Shales’ death, Blackthorn
worried what would happen between Kalaris and Bayla.

Elasol led a patrol out in response to a raid by a mixed
band of mercs and orcs. He and Sir Glofin combined their
forces to defeat the raiders. Two women were discovered
and rescued during the battle: the mysterious Lady Meredith
and a young woman named Ghislaine. Afterwards they (and
Ghislaine’s chicken Archibold) were escorted to Camelot.

Mace Daniels’ half-sister Raven Daniels arrived in
Camelot.

Blackthorn discussed the state of the Mage Guild and
Academy with Morninglord and Corwin.

Morgandy Skyler and her raptor went “fishing” and
brought back a good size catch.

Ian received reports of a boar of unusual size ravaging the
Countryside.

A mermaid named Ephanie was found wounded on the shore.
She warned Camelot of a sea serpent in the waters just outside
Camelot Harbor. The young healer Kadie helped with the wound
But Ephanie was too weak to return to the ocean just yet.

Aetia was scolded by Blackthorn for frightening Nobly as the
young librarian was talking with Lord Victor Garroway.

Elasol and Shea were wed in a small private ceremony.

Angeil Alodar returned home to Camelot after studying
abroad.

Blackthorn led a hunting party out after the Great Boar. Those
joining him were Glofin, Veryl, Quincy, Daedalus, Angeil Alodar,
Elasol. LoreMistress, Lyrick, Kyrie, Morninglord and Corwin. The
boar was flushed out of hiding by the dog Bretwalda,, but it soon
became apparent the beast was magical in nature, growing by
absorbing the life force of whatever man or beast it killed. But
the combined prowess of the hunters was more than the boar
could overcome and eventually it was slain.

The mage Tobias asked if he might borrow some of the books
In the library that had been recovered from Merlin’s Tower. It
was his hope that the books might supply him with a solution to
the dreams that lately had plagued his sleep.

Amaris, an old friend of the Blackthorns and ex wife of Coll
Diarmuid, appeared once more in Camelot, searching for the
person responsible for her current affliction. Ian cautioned
Tyralor that it might be prudent to keep Amaris and Quincy
apart given that they both had past histories with McDougal.

Quincy and Sa`Gruund decided to make windchimes.

Glofin asked Ian’s opinion concerning a personal matter.

Thurston, a young man who had been involved in Hand’s
plots against Camelot, turned himself in as an escaped
prisoner but was astonished when Blackthorn was lenient
with him.

Nobly was flustered by some inconsiderate remarks from the
Healer Mikal.

Morninglord promoted Quincy to the rank of Sergeant in the
Red Dragon Guards. Sir Elasol was promoted to Knight-
-general of the army during the same ceremony.

Loremistress helped the recovered mermaid Ephanie
return to the ocean so that she could warn her own people
about the sea serpent that had attacked her.

Lady Roe returned to Camelot after a long absence.

Maylon was given some rooms on the second floor of the
Castle in which to continue her weaving.

Morninglord, Corwin, and Loremistress reopened the
Mage Academy and reactivated the Mage Guild.

Shayla, a young widow, arrived in Camelot with her child
Tristran.

Squire Lyrick submitted her assignment on tactics to
Blackthorn, a critique of Alfred the Great’s victory at
Eddington.

Daylilly “helped” Lumiere and had to explain why she
put salt in the cider.

Rumors spread in town of a war with the merfolk.

Nate the Swordsmith returned to Camelot.

Becca Blackburn’s gift of a feather to Sa`Gruund
excited the ghostly dwarven smith.

A child named Sylla wandered into Camelot, the
sole survivor of a bloody raid. After an assassin
attempted to kill Sylla in the firehall, Blackthorn made
the arrangements for the child to be cared for at the
Camelot Home for Little Wanderers.

Kalaris and Bayla arrived back from their trip and
were both alive and in good health…much to Ian’s
relief.

Corwin gave Ian an old map he had found at the
Academy that seemed to be of the old ruined wing.

Corwin, Morninglord, and Blackthorn realized that
the amount of magic expended in and around the
area of Camelot has awoken great levels of energy
in the ley lines and nodes, and that this “Wild Magic”
could cause a serious problem.

TomTom reported that some local farms had been
raided by some strange beast.

Amariis and Tyralor finally encountered each other as
the half-elf was pushing a wheelbarrow full of rocks out
of the firehall.. Later that night, Ian was puzzled as to
where a rock he tripped over in the garden had come from

Blackthorn finally decided it was time to fetch Bran’s
Cauldron back from Mornaur’s Cave and set out with
some companions. Among those along for the trip were
Elasol, Lucent, Anki, Veryl, Tobias, Daedalus, Quincy,
Morninglord, and Corwin. Although they were able to
recover the Cauldron, the party was ambushed on the
way home by a group of Fae mounted on deer and led
by Elhand the Green Knight. While the knights and
squires fought off a sleeping spell, (with a rousing
rendition of Row Your Boat and Twinkle Twinkle, Little
Star), the Fae were able to steal the Cauldron and left
an illusion in its place.

So while Camelot was not in as dires straits as it had
been in the Winter and Spring, a sense of approaching
trouble was beginning to bew felt by many of its citizens.
What were the Fae planning, and who had Elhold been
working for, Beron or Albel? What effect would the
Wild Magic nodes have on the land? And could the
sea serpent be dealt with before lives were lost?

The answers lay ahead in the dog days of Summer.

STRANGE DAYS INDEED

Not gonna be a long entry..too tired and hot for that. But
I had to mention this before I forgot it.

Went to the laundromat today. I loaded up the washers
and went back out to sit in my car and read for a bit. When
I went back inside aftetr 20 mins...there was a strange pair
of pants in with my wash. Now, I've found socks sometimes
that must have been stuck to the inside of the washer that I missed
when I loaded it up, but a pair of pants????

I fugured out they must have belonged to the person using the
washer next to mine who got mixed up when they added them
to my machine by mistake

Ah well...it would have really freaked me out if they were my size!

LAZY BONES...

Dang, I hate days like today!

I went to bed last night with the firm resolution that I would get
at least two of the four stories that have been bopping around my
brain the last few days written. So....I ended up sleeping to .eeps..
1:30pm! Bad! Sinful!Ok, I'd felt tired all day Saturday, but still,
I don't usually sleep THAT late

So, after I finally dragged my lazy ass out of bed I managed to get
out a story...or half of one. It sort of grew a bit as I wrote. As an
aside, I can't believe it's been three years since I first wrote about
Huw and his family. And I am not sure if I may have contradicted
myself as to how and when his mother died. But QS will let me
know I think if I have..

And tonight instead of finishing it, I wasted time tracking down
my Mayflower ancestry aand writing it out to show to an elderly
customer who thought I was kidding him. At least that's the
polite term for it.

But I did get soime rp in!

Ah well..guess what? I feel sleepy.

Good night, readers.

TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE HAVING FUN!

I am, and it has.

Hard to believe it's been a year since the bovine excrement
hit the rotating metal blades, but it is.For a so called stuffed
dead cat, the channel is very much alive indeed thanks to the
rps we now have.

Guess we're not dead yet!.

FIELDS OF GLORY- JUNE SL SUMMARY (LONG)

June began with an air of uneasy expectation as Camelot awaited
the next move in the confrontation with the Monster known as Epoi.
Anki weeded flowerbeds in the gardens impatiently. Kildrummy
did a reading with his strange deck of cards that seemed to promise
hope for Camelot’s future.

Yet in the middle of the crisis, life went on much as usual. Mace
Daniels received a surprise when she put on a long unused helmet.

Blackthorn recognized a very familiar mouse and persuaded the
boy Maud`Dib to resume his human form.

Rhianna made inquiries into what she might do to be of help
around Camelot.

A clergyman named Kratas arrived in Camelot, and while Ian
and others were wary of the man, Quincy found her discussion
with the man interesting although his talk of what she thought
were depraved turkeys was a bit confusing. He did offer to
help teach Quincy to read, but he’s not been seen since the
events that followed in Camelot.

The Morrigan, acting in her position as High Justice of Camelot,
granted Yandora a divorce from the long missing and believed
dead T’Shel. She did place a condition on it, though: the divorce
would not take effect until thirty days after the decree to give T’shel
a chance to contest it if he were still alive and able to do so.

A courier named Morgandy Skyler arrived in Camelot on her giant
hawk with a message for Taralon Phoenix and accepted Ian’s
invitation to stay over night to rest. That same night the King of
England arrived unannounced to secretly spend the night at
Camelot.

Shortly after breakfast the next morning the king was escorted
through unseen passageways to his carriage out in the courtyard.
As Blackthorn prepared to bid the King farewell, they were fired
Upon by archers on the wall. Traitors had infiltrated the Red Dragon
Guard during the recent vigorous recruiting and now they opened the
Gates of Camelot to a force of mercenaries and demon mages. Ian,
Rannen, Lucent, Morgandy Skyler and the forces of the dwarf Hugin
eventually took back control of the gates and cleared the courtyard off
the invading forces.

Inside the castle, Torri and Teglo were confronted by devil dogs and
screelings. Lucent rushed inside and he, Sia-Hun, Teglo, Lyrick, and
Kyrie destroyed the attackers.

And all this was meant as a diversion as in The Hook Epoi began the
ritual that would give him ultimate power. But the ceremony itself also
served to disclose Epoi’s location, and cloak, Bayla and Anki rushed
there at once to do battle. The very fabric of existence was twisted as
a mountain suddenly sprang up in The Hook. Outside of Camelot Elasol
and others found themselves battling

But as it must, Good triumphed over Evil. Once more reality shifted and
the mountain vanished both from sight and from the memory of all but a
very few. The rescue party defeated Epoi and returned to Camelot not
only with the missing Amarella but with the revived father of Bayla-Vin,
the elf known as WhisperWind.

A state of euphoria after the Balance was restored was felt mildly by
most hit Dame Kyrie and Squires Lyrick and Lucent slightly harder
and caused a bit of awkwardness between Lyrick and Castor.

In celebration of the liberation of The Hook and the defeat of Epoi, Ian
announced that a Summer Tournament would be held and that it would
conclude with a Grand Ball. There would be five weapons categories and
the winner of the Swords competition would be crowned the Tourney
Champion.

Lord Corwin returned to Camelot after being away at sensitive
trade negotiations.

Yandora hired a young seamstress to make her a dress.

Lucent and Sandra Anderson had an argument over the merits of
Sandra’s horse.

Master Pinkus was still causing problems. First he transported the
dagger that held him to under Lumiere’s bar. Later he briefly took
possession of Nobly but moved into a book when Kalaris and Bayla
promised to make him a new body to inhabit, a move Ian regarded
with great skepticism. Unable to just sit quietly and wait, Pinkus
startled Nobly in the library. The assistant librarian attempted
to sweep the possessed book out of the library only to have her
broom burst into flames, and the firehall was startled by Nobly
running about with the burning broom. Bayla provided a bucket
of water to douse the fire while Blackthorn provided an “I told
you so!” look.

Yandora’s daughter Eliana arrived in Camelot and met
Master Robinton, unaware of the marriage proposal. But a
few choice remarks by Tyralor caused an argument and when
Yandora ran off in tears, she became lost in the Wyld until
Robinton and TomTom rescued her.

Mace and Mikal set about the task of rebuilding Mace’s ruined
estate.

Madame Maylon’s work on the last of the tapestries neared a close.

Quincy became friends with the dwarven ghost Sa`Gruund. Tyralor
seemed a bit discomfited by the ghost’s proximity, however

.

The announcement of the Tournament was met with great enthusiasm
and the events were run under the watchful eye of Master Marcello. Little
did the citizens of Camelot realize how momentous an event the Summer
Tournament of 1106 was going to be!

The Tournament:

Euklipts was the first contestant eliminated from the tournament as he
lost in Archery on the first night to Blackthorn and then to his own wife,
Mirari. As the elf himself put it, if you were going to lose who better
to do so to than your own wife and your commander?

The contestant causing the most interest among opponents and the
onlookers alike was the mysterious stranger know only as The Green
Knight. Rumors abounded as to his true identity. He was a royal prince
travelling incognito. He was the last Saxon heir to the throne of England.
He was Tyralor McDougal in disguise!

No matter who he truly was, the Green Knight cut a wide swath through
the opposition, beginning with hard fought matches with first Lucent and
then Sir Glofin. As the Green Knight won match after match only Mace
Daniels was ever able to defeat the newcomer one time in the all important
Sword category.

The Green Knight was not the only sensation of the tourney, Michael Ard`
Rhi made his yearly appearance to insult the defenders to Camelot. This
year was a bit different than his previous visits and Ard`Rhi added insult to
injury as he defeated nearly everyone he met. For a time it seemed as if he
and the Green Knight would face each other for the Sword title, but
Blackthorn’s latest student Squire Lyrick eliminated Ard`Rhi.

Ard`Rhi had one match in particular that set all of Camelot abuzz. He
matched Swords with Quincy Randall of the Red Dragon Guard and
despite re-injuring her wounded collarbone the guardswoman refused to
surrender. Her bravery infuriated Ard`Rhi and although he won the match
he was not satisfied. He beat Quincy senseless and then stalked off. Tyralor
came to Quincy’s aid and in the course of doing so had a confrontation with
Squires Cian and Kylan.

Ard`Rhi’s anger with Quincy continued even after she was brought to the
Infirmary where his addition of an unknown substance to her medicine led
to another of her incidents of transformation.

A fourth contestant of note was the whirling bundle of energy that was
Daylily Dreamweaver. She advanced up the ranks while giggling, diving,
and kissing. She also consumed quite a bit of candy. But whatever the
reason behind her prowess with the staff, she fought her way to the
finals, even defeating Blackthorn along the way.

Finally, the performances of the four Squires of Camelot, Cian, Kylan,
Lyrick and Lucent displayed their prowess, honor, and chivalry and gave
all great hopes for Camelot’s future.

Other tournament highlights included:

-Sir Glofin being knocked from his horse by a savage hit from Blackthorn
in the first pass of their joust, then regaining his horse to continue and then
eventually win the match.

-Bayla Vin’s epic battle with Suiechi whose injuries forced him to
withdraw from the tournament. The confrontation foreshadowed the
intensity of competition that would be maintained throughout the whole
tourney.

-The now legendary back to back mace matches between Sir Elasol
and Quincy that electrified the onlookers with their ferocity and warcries.

-The match between TomTom and Lucent where the Squire helped his
friend deal with memories of battle.

-The exciting championship match between Calan Lachland and The
Green Knight.

-Blackthorn’s shouts of “HIT SOMETHING!” “DUCK!”and “ the
target is THAT way!”

As the tournament drew to a close, a memorial service was held in the
chapel by Yandora for her husband T’shel. It was well attended and several
speakers shared their memories of T’shel with the others

The festivities ended with the Grand Ball which was easily the best attended
attended event in anyone’s memory. The winners of the tournament were
announced and awarded their prizes.

Sword and Tournament Champion: The Green Knight
Jousting- Squire Cian
Staves- Sir Elasol
Mace- Squire Lyrick
Archery- Lord Corwin

When Blackthorn presented the Green Knight with his prize, the stranger
finally removed his helmet to reveal he was a Fae knight named Sir Elhand.
Of course, this fueled a new round of speculations over the knight’s purpose
in coming to Camelot and whether it had anything to do with the recent
events in The Wyld.

Life in Camelot now returned to normal or at least to what is normal in
Camelot.

A young lady name Angelica_Reaux entered the firehall one night and
Immediately crawled under a table in a failed attempt to hide. Nobly’s
earnest warnings about the dangers of spiders crawling up legs helped
coax the girl out.

Anki had a rather annoying encounter with a persistent imp named
Malykin.

Madame Maylon delivered the final tapestry

Daedalus ran afoul of Dame Kyrie over a spar with her Squire, Lyrick.

Master Pinkus took possession of Kalaris’ assistant, Riza.

The fae lords Beron and Albel had a polite but subtle conversation in
the neutral territory of the firehall. Beron later returned another night
to warn Blackthorn that some denizens of the Wyld were talking of war
with the humans to regain their old territories. He also cautioned that
a close eye should be kept on Palmer, Albel’s grandson.

Blackthorn had thought Shale would have died by now from the effects
of the poison but was stunned to learn the murderer was still alive. He’d
hoped he would not have to order the death of another of Kalaris’ sons
since the death of Khaimon still haunted him. The memory of Shale’s
victims, including Nobly, was something Ian could not ignore and he issued
an order for Shale’s execution. The sentence was carried out in the warded
room by Bayla, Quincy and Palmer but Shale did not die quietly and all three
were injured in the fight.

June had seen the end of two great evils and the first stirrings of a possible
future problem. Even so, it ended on a high note of hope as Sir Elasol swore
girl Lyssa in as his first Squire.

The long dark Winter and troubled Spring were over. For now at least, the
Sun shone brightly down on Camelot.

But for how long?
